I don’t wanna grow up . . . but then again . . .

My best friend got engaged on the tenth. I wanted to post earlier, but I’ve been tired and lazy. I’m really happy. Paul has been my best friend since the fifth grade. We’ve spent very little time together since we graduated High School, but hopefully that’s going to turn around. He’s one of those people who is just himself without feeling the need to beat you across the head with his individuality.

He did the whole thing up in high style, surprising his fiance with a trip out to their California stomping grounds from when they met. He hired a wedding coordinator to set up this amazing beachfront affair, and wrote a song to serve as the proposal. Then he set up a celebratory dinner the next day for some close friends. That’s where I came in. We all got to say hi and see them for the first time since they moved out to Pennsylvania, and then Austin.

Check out this rock:

I guess you can grow up and still be a Toys ‘R’ Us Kid, because he and I surprisingly fell right back into our friendship, for which I was immensely glad. It’s been a disappointing few years to me, and it was good to know that some of the things I’ve always treasured in my life are still valid.

Congratulations, my dear friend!

Ripples of coolness.

Saw my friend Joan last night. Haven’t seen her in years, and when I last did, we were headed for opposite ends of the state. It was fantastic to see her. She’s married now and seems very happy. And she’s as cool as ever she was. We had a little nostalgia-fest before I had to take my groceries to my new apartment.

Speaking of which, the apartment is really cool. Still gonna post some pics of the view when I get to be here in daylight. I had my first day at the < a href=”http://www.macsuper.com”Mac Superstore. Very cool. Everybody who walked in the door was pleasant to talk to, and the guys who work there made me feel welcome.

I think the high point of the day was when another Cube owner showed up and we geeked out together for a bit. Sweet!

Lee Corso must die!

This one is for all my friends still suffering under the torture that is Mr. Yep-Lee Corso. I don’t know him. Couldn’t pick him out of a line-up, but Lee Corso must die.

Okay. Maybe not die.

Lee Corso must be subjected to a noogie so severe it leaves his head polished to a mirror finish. The sad thing is he’s probably not aware of the torture he’s inflicting upon hundreds of thousands of Home Depot employees nation wide. His voice is piped in a few dozen times a day in a grating comercial that begins “Not so fast, my friend!” It’s awful. It’s torture. It has earned him The Noogie of Infinite Friction.

This is my way of prefacing the fact that I just finished my final shift at the Home Depot. Aside from Mr. Yep-Lee Corso, everyone there was really cool, and I will miss the folks there. The good news is that I’ve gotten what should shape up to be a fantastic job at The Mac Superstore in San Luis Obispo. This new job is superior in many ways, not the least of which is that I get to go to work amongst my very favorite toys every day. Oh-yeah. I’m also going to get a chance to move. I’ll post more details when I get settled in.
