This is sad, but . . .

Very sad.

Yes, this is sad, but the lesson is,”Don’t take your infant children to fucking horror movies, you inconsiderate child abusing asshole!”

Yeah, they’re greaving, blah, blah, blah, but if they’d been responsible parents, the kid wouldn’t have had popcorn in his mouth when he got the shit scared out of him. When you get scared, you inhale. When you laugh, you exhale. Take your fucking kids to see fucking kid movies, stupid.

When I was teaching, I had a kid tell me about the time his parents took him to see one of the Candyman movies when he was three or four years old. There was a scene where the Candyman opened his coat and his body was made of bees. The kid pissed himself right there in the theater, and has grown up with a phobia of bees.

Don’t take your small children to scary movies, people. It isn’t good for them.

New Content

Some of you might remember some of the projects I’ve mentioned, such as wanting to read some public domain audio books and offer them here, and sharing my music. Over there to the left, you can see that I’m finally getting my ass in gear with that. Sadly, all my copies of my only useable singing performance go erased, so it will be a while before I can share that again. The good news is that I play to start in on my first audio book tomorrow. I want to read one or more stories from Dancing Barefoot by Wil Wheaton. The book is released under a creative commons license, so it should be cool, but I’m going to run it by him once I finish the first story. After that, I’ll have to find something cool to read from the public domain, and just take it chapter by chapter.

I will eventually be trying to sell them for a reasonable price. Maybe fifty cents a chapter, or five dollars a book or something. I may try to program a whole system, but right now I’m thinking I’ll just encrypt the files and sell the passcodes through PayPal. You guys wouldn’t pirate me, would you?

Guys?

Guys . . .

‘Nother big update.

I’m really liking this Home Depot job. I never thought I’d be convinced that a a giant evil corporation had a soul, but they seem to at least appreciate the importance of cultivating an effective, contented workforce. The benefits are good, every single person I’ve met who works there is cool. Other than my feet having to get used to a stand-up job again, all is peachy.

On a more life-goal kind of subject, I’ve been invited to write for Lockergnome, (after applying and showing them my work), which should keep me updating things more frequently, as well as keeping me more focussed in my writing. For now, I’ll be writing on a variety of topics and sending them to the editors for evaluation. If I turn out not to be a schmuck, they’ll give me the chance to directly post my stuff. I’ll also be able to cross post, so anything I write for them, I’ll probably post here, either as a link, or as full text, or occasionally as expanded text. First ideas include my disappointment with the new iPod, a kick-ass mod I just did to my server, and a new MP3 service the cautious use of which I want to talk up.

Flicks.

Check out my movie recommendations. I’ll probably be putting up a page for them here some day, but for now they’re there. I try to keep them short and useful. No pretentious wanna-be criticism. Just an idea of whether you’ll like it and why. Not all are mine, but it should be easy to pick them out by the name on top.

Quick update.

I’ve just started working for Home Depot. Seems like a pretty decent company, and at least they didn’t shitcan my application when they saw I had a college degree. Wish me luck, since I’ll be working in electrical/lighting.

Happened to run into a guy who was a friend of several of my childhood friends today. It was weird because now I know what the phrase “An old friend you’ve never met,” can mean. We knew the same people, and many of the same stories, though from different angles. Turns out he’ll be working in my department too. Cool.

Working on an entirely different project that I’ll be pimping like a madman here if it pans out. Recruited my lifelong best friend Paul, who I’m hoping can do the stuff that’s too geeky for me to figure out on my own. So I guess it’s wish us luck since we’re partners. I’ll try to post a good rant or something pretty soon. I’m thinking something about the lunacy of the average American hiring process.

Peace, Love, Recycle.
